Join the Belfast Philharmonic Choir as they celebrate the closing of their very special 150th anniversary season at the Ulster Hall, Belfast on 24 May 2025!
The event will include the world premiere of a new piece by Elaine Agnew and Sinéad Morrissey. Conducted by their Chorus Director James Grossmith, the concert will feature the Belfast Philharmonic Youth and Chambers Choirs, pianist Gail Evans and musicians from the Ulster Orchestra.
Affectionately known as “The Phil”, the Belfast Philharmonic Choir is one of very few choral societies with an unbroken record of performance since it was founded in 1874. Their performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah in the Ulster Hall in November 2024 was performed almost 150 years to the date when the Society first sang the piece in the same venue!
“It's a concert to warm the heart, recognising the invaluable contribution of the Belfast Philharmonic Society over so many years” - The Irish Times
The 150th anniversary closing concert will also feature James Whitbourn’s 'The Seven Heavens', which was commissioned for the 140th anniversary of the choir, and Howard Skempton’s 'The Cloths of Heaven', which was commissioned for the 125th anniversary.
This exciting evening of music is suitable for all the family and £10 tickets are available for under 25s and full-time students.
