Sir Van Morrison has announced that he will perform a celebratory Belfast concert alongside his daughter on his 80th birthday this summer.
The unique celebratory event will take place on 31 August in the Waterfront Hall.
Shauna Morrison has followed in her rock legend father’s footsteps and is also an acclaimed singer-songwriter, performing her own work, as well as covering her father's popular back catalogue in her own unique style.
Morrison’s career spans seven decades and with millions of record sales throughout that time, the east Belfast native is regarded as one of the most successful artists the city has ever produced.
He was recognised for his accolades by Belfast City Council, who awarded him the Freedom of the City in 2013, and he was also appointed Queen’s University Belfast’s inaugural ‘Artist in Residence’ earlier this year. This new partnership with the university will see Morrison provide two students with fully-funded scholarships to assist in their ambitions of becoming professional musicians.
Tickets for Van Morrison’s ‘80th Birthday Celebration Concert’ go on sale on Friday 11 April 2025. Find out more.
